Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO has Academic Hall on a hill located just off the Mississippi River. The dome of Academic Hall is their trademark and can be seen on their stationary and other products sold by the school.
Detroit Cornice had the privilege of installing a new synthetic slate roof along with total restoration of their dome taking over a year to complete and using tons of copper.

St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Findley, Ohio receives some much needed slate roof repairs. Though not all of the slate was replaced, some sections of the roof received new slate, while in other areas, just missing pieces were replaced.

The slate roof along with all the steeples were taken down to their decking and resurfaced.Ā Each individualĀ ornaments and crosses were brought back to our shop in Michigan and totally restored. The finishing touch on each one was the application of gold leaf for a stunning final look.

Removed slate mansard. Fabricated and installed new custom stainless steel gutters. Replaced flashings and underlayments. Reinstalled slate. Painted existing metal multiple colors for a beautiful finish.
Chapel had a slate roof when it was first built that had a picture pattern built into it. This old roof was long gone and replaced with a standard shingle roof. The owner chose to have the old pattern replicated using DaVinci Slate shingle products. We were able to duplicate the design from an old picture, with beautiful results.
An icon along I-75 driving towards downtown Detroit is the steeple at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Canfield Street had to be closed to traffic after a storm left the steeple in danger of collapsing into the street. It was a pleasure to straighten, reinforce, and install new slate on this piece of Detroit history.
